Foreigner Crime Reports and the Cracks in Japan's 'Multicultural Coexistence'
Three loosely related stories went viral at once: a police warning about supposedly armed foreigners roaming southern Saitama, staff at Tokyo Disney quietly tolerating foreign groups eating outside food, and a convenience-store report of card-reseller queues that turned out to involve visa overstayers. Much of the most alarming framing, however, could not be traced to primary sources.
