Three loosely connected items got bundled into one 'West vs. Japan culture gap' theme: a thread about Americans being expected to leave home at 18 vs. Japanese staying longer; a thread reacting negatively to a 'politically correct' Western makeup/character design; and Poland unveiling a large anime-girl mural as a Japan-Poland friendship piece. Japanese netizens were largely cynical toward the West on the first two, but warmly approving of the Polish mural as 'soft-power diplomacy done right.'
