Videos of Trash-Strewn Chinese Beaches and Bystanders Filming a Drowning Draw Outrage in Japan
Footage of Chinese beaches buried in garbage, and of onlookers filming on their phones instead of helping a drowning child while his father called for aid, spread online and drew sharp criticism of littering and bystander behavior. But the clips carry no verifiable date, place, or before-and-after context, so claims that onlookers chose clout over rescue cannot be confirmed from the videos alone.
