Japan Sides With Turkey and Egypt After a 2,000-Passenger LGBTQ+ Cruise Is Turned Away
A Virgin Voyages charter cruise carrying roughly 2,000 LGBTQ+ passengers was denied port entry by Turkey on 'moral' grounds and could not dock in Egypt either. Japanese commenters overwhelmingly framed the issue as the passengers' revealing dress and disregard for the host countries' religious norms rather than sexual orientation itself, and mostly defended the refusals.
