France's Student Protests Enter a Third Week
France's high-school protests over public-school conditions entered a third week with escalating violence, including a 15-year-old who lost a hand to a police-fired munition, and reportedly reached wealthier parts of Paris. Japanese users mostly measured the unrest against their own near-absent protest culture, mixing envy and scorn, while arguing over whether the cause was schools, a revolt habit, or immigration. Reporting ties the injury to a police stun grenade and the underlying trigger to school conditions rather than the immigration frame some assumed. A sharp class reading — elite students demanding free tuition while low-paid elders direct traffic — ran through the thread.
