Over 150 Million U.S. Driver's Licenses Reportedly Leaked
U.S. security outlets reported that scans of more than 150 million U.S. and Canadian driver's licenses were being sold on a Russian dark-web market. The figure — close to half the U.S. population — left Japanese forums both amazed and resigned. Much of the reaction skipped the question of who did it and went straight to the system itself: if license images can end up on the black market, the whole model of online identity verification (eKYC) looks fragile. 'Glad I didn't switch to the My Number digital license' and 'back to paper and cash' were recurring notes.
