#PSBlackout Arrives From Abroad, and a Japanese Studio's Game Looks Like Sekiro
After Sony Interactive Entertainment said new PlayStation titles released from January 2028 will no longer be produced on disc, overseas communities began organising a boycott called #PSBlackout: no logins, no play, no purchases from 7pm on 23 August to 7pm on 30 August local time. Japanese threads paid less attention to the protest itself than to whether a week offline changes anything, with several arguing it would only accelerate the shift to downloads. The same day, footage of Game Freak's new game drew comparisons to FromSoftware's Sekiro, and the thread split between praise for the ambition and dismissal as a rehash.
