
160 Yen to the Dollar, and 2,400 Yen for Water and a Cookie
The yen briefly hit 160.20 to the dollar in New York on 28 August, back at the 160 level shortly after a round of yen-buying intervention. In the same days a post about water and a cookie costing about 2,400 yen at a US airport spread under the line 'the yen is finished.' Airport prices do not stand in for general US price levels, and the split over that point ran through the whole discussion.
