Survey Claiming Majority Support for a Japan-Korea Economic Community Meets Fierce Distrust
A survey attributed to the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry claimed 69.8% of Koreans and 59.8% of Japanese support an EU-style Japan-Korea economic community, with a passport-free travel scheme also polling well. Japanese net users overwhelmingly rejected the numbers, questioning the survey's methodology and suspecting opinion manipulation. The original survey's design could not be independently verified.
