Chinese EV Data Fears Meet China's New Police Robots
A Norwegian security review reported that a Chinese-made EV sent about 90% of its communication traffic to servers in China even after the engine was off, landing alongside news that China had begun trials of baton-and-shield police robots. Japanese reaction was dominated by weary 'no surprise, it's state policy' cynicism and warnings about the security of Chinese products. A smaller group pushed back that PCs and phones do much the same, or that driving-data optimization could even be useful. The robot story drew dystopian dread about a machine that would suppress people without hesitation, mixed with sci-fi jokes.
