Korea's Flag Fails to Rise at the Asian Games
At the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games men's soccer final (Japan 0–1 Korea), champion Korea's flag stopped partway up the pole during the anthem, drawing boos. Even forum users who are usually hard on Korea called it a complete Japanese failure and a national embarrassment. Then, at the closing, organizing-committee chair and Aichi Governor Hideaki Omura summed up the Games as 'wonderful' and larger in scale than the Tokyo Olympics — which drew disbelief and demands for accountability.
